How Great Thou Art!

I love this hymn!

David and I sang this song for our church group last week Sunday. I sang melody, he accompanied on guitar and sang the harmonies. We followed up with another song, with audience participation on the chorus, Give Me Oil For My Lamp.

Well, I mention this because just moments ago, in the distance, the church bell chimes were playing How Great Thou Art. How wonderful to hear the melody and to be reminded of such edifying lyrics.

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Chorus:
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,

And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

I love this song! Did anyone happen to record it while you sang? I'd love to hear you two singing!

Unfortunately, no. That's okay though, since we only had two evenings to arrange and practice it. It came out fine considering. The good thing is that David and I sing together quite often around the house. If one person is singing, the other will chime in with harmonies and vice versa. It's one of the sweetest bonds we share - music.

He'll treasure that too, just as I did and still do with the memories of singing together while doing dishes. I could never harmonize so you always took that part while we sang Simon and Garfunkle's "Sound of Silence". Good times and great memories.
